Accreditation Information Program Conducted at Dokuz Eylül University Research and Application Hospital
As part of its efforts to enhance quality and safety in healthcare services, the Türkiye Healthcare Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) conducted an Accreditation Information Program at Dokuz Eylül University Research and Application Hospital on 27–28 July 2026.
The program commenced with opening remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Mehmet Birhan Yılmaz, Vice Rector of Dokuz Eylül University and Acting Chief Physician of Dokuz Eylül University Hospital, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, President of TÜSKA.
The program was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagihan Cevher, Deputy Chief Physician responsible for Quality, Prof. Dr. Emel Çalıkoğlu, Deputy Chief Physician, and staff members responsible for quality management activities within the hospital. During the program, Prof. Dr. Umut Beylik, TÜSKA Academic, together with Healthcare Accreditation Surveyors Prof. Dr. Ayşegül Çopur Çiçek, Prof. Dr. Gülcan Coşkun Akar, Sultan Çağan, Birgül Çelebi Yavaş, and Cenk Selim Saygın, delivered presentations on accreditation processes and carried out on-site assessment activities.
Throughout the program, participants were informed about the fundamental principles of healthcare accreditation, quality management system practices in line with the Healthcare Accreditation Standards (SAS), patient and employee safety, and the continuous improvement approach. The on-site assessments conducted as part of the program aimed to enhance participants' awareness and competence in implementing accreditation standards while contributing to the evaluation of the institution's current practices and the identification of areas for improvement.
The program was considered to have made a significant contribution to strengthening the institution's quality management system, improving its level of preparedness for accreditation, and fostering a culture of quality in healthcare services. It was also emphasized that efforts to support sustainable improvement throughout the institution and to further develop a quality-oriented approach to healthcare delivery in line with accreditation objectives will continue with determination.
