Which Healthcare Institutions Have Mandatory Accreditation?

In order to improve the quality of healthcare services and ensure compliance with international standards, accreditation programmes conducted by TÜSKA have been made mandatory for certain healthcare institutions in line with recent regulations. This informational document has been prepared for public, university, and private sector healthcare facilities, medical centres, and organisations providing services within the scope of health tourism, to explain which institutions are required to apply for TÜSKA accreditation, which ones may apply voluntarily, and the scope of this process.

WHICH HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS CAN APPLY FOR ACCREDITATION?

♦ Public, university and private healthcare institutions can apply for accreditation programmes announced by TÜSKA. This includes various healthcare institutions such as hospitals, oral and dental health centres, laboratories and hemodialysis centres.

♦ The accreditation programmes provided by TÜSKA are open to applications from both national and international healthcare institutions. However, institutions must meet the pre-determined prerequisites.

WHICH HEALTHCARE INSTITUTIONS HAVE MANDATORY ACCREDITATION?

As of the first half of 2025, TÜSKA accreditation has become mandatory for the following types of healthcare facilities:

 ♦ Private Hospitals

In accordance with the Private Hospitals Regulation published in the Official Gazette on 30 January 2025, private hospitals are required to obtain TÜSKA accreditation by 30 January 2028 at the latest.

♦ Health Tourism Authorisation Certificate Holder Facilities

Under the Regulation on International Health Tourism and Tourist Health, published in the Official Gazette dated 26 April 2025 and numbered 32882, hospitals, medical centres, medical laboratories and dialysis centres must be accredited by TÜSKA by 31 December 2026 at the latest, while other healthcare facilities must obtain the certificate issued by the Ministry.

♦ Medical centres

Under the Regulation on Private Health Institutions Providing Outpatient Diagnosis and Treatment dated 19 April 2025, medical centres must obtain TÜSKA accreditation by 19 April 2028 at the latest.
