Practices for the Quality System in Health Care in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus Have Been Initiated
Between 19–23 January 2026, inspection, training and implementation-oriented activities were carried out by our Institute for the establishment and operation of a quality system in hospitals affiliated with the Ministry of Health of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Within this scope;
Priority areas for the health care quality system in the TRNC were identified,
Implementation of the Standards Set was initiated at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital, which was selected as the pilot hospital within the scope of the Standards Set,
On-site visits were conducted to public hospitals in the TRNC, and meetings were held with hospital administrations regarding quality management structures and other related activities.
On 23 January 2026, a closing meeting was held with the participation of the TRNC Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Hakan Dinçyürek, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Düriye Deren Oygar, together with the TÜSKA Team, regarding the activities carried out over a period of five (5) days. During the meeting, the TRNC Minister of Health and the Undersecretary were informed by the President of TÜSKA, H.E. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, and the TÜSKA Team about the activities carried out and those planned to be implemented; a detailed report prepared within this framework was presented.
The TRNC Minister of Health, H.E. Dr. Dinçyürek, conveyed his thanks to the TÜSKA Team for their contributions and support, emphasizing the need for the continuation of cooperation activities to ensure the sustainability and continuity of the implemented practices. The President of TÜSKA, H.E. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demir, stated that an important implementation for the quality system in the TRNC had been initiated, that the necessary processes were being carried out for these efforts to achieve their objectives, that planning for their continuation had been completed, and that this support would continue upon request.
Along with the President of TÜSKA, H.E. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, the TÜSKA Team included Prof. Dr. Umut Beylik, Prof. Dr. Mücahit Avcil, Specialist Dr. Mehmet Oldacay, Specialist Dr. Ayhan Kalyoncu, Pharmacist Ercan Koca, Engineer Ahmet Aslancan, and İbrahim Kaygılı.
