Meeting on Türkiye’s Health Sector Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory and Methodology Has Been Held within the Scope of COP31
Within the scope of the 2026 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP31), which will be hosted by Türkiye on 09–20 November 2026, a meeting on Türkiye’s Health Sector Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions Inventory and Methodology was organised by our Institute.
The meeting, chaired by TÜSKA President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, was attended by Prof. Dr. Gülen Güllü, Faculty Member of the Department of Environmental Engineering at Hacettepe University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Perihan Şenel, Faculty Member at Ankara University Vocational School of Health Services; Dr. Yonca Özatkan, Member of the TÜSKA Quality Scientific Board; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Kılıçarslan, Faculty Member at Ankara University Vocational School of Information Technologies; Dr. Ahmet Burak Erdemir, Environmental and Sustainability Specialist at the World Bank; Burak Kızırgil, Environmental Engineer and Waste Services Manager at Etlik City Hospital; TÜSKA Academicians Prof. Dr. Umut Beylik and Prof. Dr. Keziban Avcı; and TÜSKA R&D Specialist Büşra Bozkurt, who served as rapporteur.
During the meeting, methodological approaches for developing an emissions inventory for Türkiye’s health sector, pilot implementation processes, the framework of TÜSKA’s Climate Change and Sustainability Standards, and related institutional structuring were discussed from both scientific and practical perspectives.
As an outcome of the meeting, future activities to support the climate change and sustainability roadmap of Türkiye’s health system were planned.
