Cooperation Meeting on Healthcare Accreditation Has Been Held Between TÜSKA and the Sri Lanka Ministry of Health Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau

 

An online meeting on the planned cooperation in the field of healthcare quality and accreditation has been held between the Türkiye Healthcare Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) and the Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau (PSAB) of the Ministry of Health of Sri Lanka on 3 July 2026.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram DEMİR, President of TÜSKA, together with the TÜSKA delegation. Representing the Patient Safety and Accreditation Bureau of the Sri Lanka Ministry of Health were Dr. MWMK Mediwaka (Director), Dr. Dilantha Dharmagunawardene (Deputy Director), Dr. Nirmala Cooray (Consultant Health Informatician), and Dr. Deepal Jayathilaka (Consultant Health Informatician).

During the meeting, the parties held comprehensive discussions on opportunities for technical cooperation in support of the establishment of Sri Lanka’s planned national healthcare accreditation system. The discussions focused on the development of healthcare accreditation standards, the planning and implementation of accreditation programmes, surveyor training, surveyor management systems, digital infrastructure, and capacity-building activities.

The participants also exchanged views on the technical cooperation activities planned with the support of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA). These included on-site training programmes for Sri Lankan accreditation surveyors, experience-sharing programmes to be organised in Türkiye, and training on accreditation programme management for PSAB personnel.

The meeting highlighted the importance of strengthening institutional cooperation between the two countries in the field of healthcare quality and accreditation. Both parties agreed to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise, share international best practices, and continue joint efforts to support the development of Sri Lanka’s national healthcare accreditation system.
