40th ISQua International Istanbul Conference: Next Generation Accreditation in Healthcare Session Organized in Collaboration with TÜSKA and ACHS International
From September 24-27, 2024, the ISQua 2024 Istanbul Conference was held at the Lütfi Kırdar Congress Center. On the first day of the conference, TÜSKA and the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) organized a session titled “Next Generation Accreditation in Healthcare: Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence as Solutions to Current Challenges.” This session focused on how healthcare accreditation is being reshaped through digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and performance data. Additionally, TÜSKA shared its remote auditing experiences, which were published as examples by ISQua, while highlighting Türkiye’s leading role in digital transformation.
In this session, TÜSKA President Prof. Dr. Figen Çizmeci Şenel discussed TÜSKA's digital accreditation processes and the role of artificial intelligence. ACHS International CEO and President of the Asian Society for Quality in Healthcare (ASQua), Dr. Karen Luxford, emphasized the importance of performance data for future assessments, while ACHS International General Manager Louise Cuskelly provided insights on organizational readiness. Following these presentations, participants engaged in interactive discussions, evaluating their current healthcare environments and exploring how to adopt these innovative approaches.
In the second part of the session, the table workshops were facilitated by ACHS International Middle East Regional Manager Bassel El Sayegh and Didem İncegil from TÜSKA’s International Programs Department. Participants, seated at eight tables, engaged in collaborative discussions on digital transformation and accreditation processes in healthcare, sharing their ideas and solutions. These discussions provided participants with an opportunity to compare their healthcare systems with others and explore how to implement these innovative approaches in their own countries.
Finally, ACHS International General Manager Louise Cuskelly summarized the workshop outcomes, and Assoc. Prof. Ibrahim Halil Kayral, Head of TÜSKA’s International Programs Department, delivered the closing remarks. He highlighted the key takeaways from the workshop and provided guidance on how to further explore research in this field.
This session offered an important platform for showcasing Türkiye’s pioneering role in digital transformation in healthcare and its efforts in digital health accreditation to a broader international group of surveyors.
