Health Accreditation Surveyor Candidate Basic Training Program Started
Adopting the mission of adding value to health, the Türkiye Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) continues to enhance its Health Accreditation Surveyor capacity both in terms of quality and quantity within the scope of its national and international accreditation mandate. In this context, the theoretical component of the TÜSKA Surveyor Training Program, accredited by the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), is being conducted between 6–10 October 2025.
The Training Program started on 6 October 2025 at Ankara Bilkent City Hospital, with the participation of over 30 educators and more than 150 Health Accreditation Surveyor Candidates. The program began with the opening speech of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, President of TÜSKA, who announced the introduction of a new model reflecting categorization in accreditation (Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Accreditation) and incorporating a value-based approach that will elevate the understanding of quality and safety in healthcare to a higher level.
In his speech, Dr. Demir emphasized that the new model is built upon three fundamental pillars: patient safety, employee safety, and facility safety, which are essential for the sustainability of a quality culture in health care. He also underlined that, in addition to surveyor scores, “Accreditation Performance Indicators” will play a decisive role in classification. Accordingly, the expected improvement level of health facilities based on performance indicators and their rate of achieving target outcomes will directly determine their accreditation category.
Through this new approach, TÜSKA aims to foster the development of health institutions grounded in continuous improvement, measurable performance, and a sustainable quality culture within the accreditation system.
Following the opening speech, Dr. Hasan Güler, Consultant to the Minister of Health, delivered a presentation titled “Quality and Accreditation Journey in Türkiye”, highlighting that accreditation has become a significant tool under the new policies of the Ministry and that quality and accreditation efforts have evolved from their inception to the present day.
Within the scope of the first day of the training program:
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammed Atak – “Strategic Approach to Surveyor Barriers, Time Management and Conflict Method”
- Prof. Dr. Tuncer Asunakutlu – “Leadership in Quality and Accreditation”
- Prof. Dr. Umut Beylik – “Accreditation and Surveyor Methodology in Health Services”
- Dr. Demet Gökmen Kavak – “Accreditation Standards in Health”
- Specialist Canan Cengiz – “Accreditation Programs”
- Dr. Gülsen Koralay – “Surveyor Management”

This program, organized by TÜSKA and accredited by ISQua, aims to equip surveyor candidates with the necessary knowledge and competencies to perform effectively at both national and international levels. It is expected to make a significant contribution to strengthening the quality of health services in Türkiye by ensuring the effective implementation of accreditation activities and the training of qualified surveyors.
