An Accreditation Awareness Activity Has Been Conducted by the Türkiye Health Care Quality And Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) at Ankara University Health Application And Research Hospitals
An Accreditation Information Program aimed at enhancing quality and patient safety in healthcare services was conducted on 29–30 January 2026 at Ankara University Health Application and Research Hospitals, organized by the Türkiye Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA).
At the opening session of the program, Prof. Dr. Ebru Evren Yurtcu, Deputy Chief Physician of İbni Sina Research and Application Hospital and Head of the Quality Management Unit, delivered a presentation titled “Introduction of İbni Sina and Cebeci Hospitals.” Opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. İsmail Balık, Chief Physician of Ankara University Health Application and Research Hospitals, and Prof. Dr. Gülnur Göllü Bahadir, Vice Rector of Ankara University. Within the scope of the opening program, an informational presentation on TÜSKA was delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Keziban Avci, addressing Türkiye’s hospital accreditation system, evaluation methodology, and the general framework of TÜSKA standards.
Speakers emphasized the critical role of quality and accreditation processes in ensuring sustainable improvement in healthcare services and expressed strong commitment to enhancing patient safety, employee safety, and service standards within university hospitals.
As part of the program, TÜSKA representatives Assoc. Prof. Dr. Keziban AVCI, Meryem Başkara, and Şabu Karadağ, along with Healthcare Accreditation Auditors Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alper Yavuz, Dentist Volkan Sozan, Zenciye Kiliç Koçak, Prof. Dr. Afsun Ezel Esatoğlu, Assist. Prof. Dr. Göksel Vatansever, Prof. Dr. Ayşe Tuğba Altuğ Demiralp, and Prof. Dr. Tülin Şen Esmer, took part in the information sessions.
Throughout the accreditation information program, key areas such as patient safety, occupational health and safety, facility management, sterilization processes, document management, emergency healthcare services, and medical equipment and materials management were addressed through a holistic approach. The program aimed to enhance participants’ competencies in applying accreditation standards in practice and was supported by on-site assessments in addition to theoretical instruction, enabling institutions to review current practices and identify areas for improvement.
The program was evaluated as having made a significant contribution to strengthening the quality management system at Ankara University Health Application and Research Hospitals and increasing institutional preparedness for accreditation processes. It was stated that efforts will continue with determination to ensure that training outcomes guide sustainable improvement initiatives across the institution and promote a quality-oriented approach to healthcare service delivery.
