A Cooperation Meeting in The Field of Accreditation Has Been Held Between TÜSKA and The Medical Institutions Accreditation and Quality Control Center (TMAKNM) of The Ministry of Health of The Republic Of Azerbaijan
The Türkiye Health Care Quality and Accreditation Institute (TÜSKA) held an online meeting with officials from the Azerbaijan Medical Institutions Accreditation and Quality Control Center to evaluate opportunities for cooperation in the field of healthcare accreditation and quality systems.
The meeting, held on 29 December 2025, was attended by TÜSKA President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir; on behalf of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Health Medical Institutions Accreditation and Quality Control Center, President of the Board Orhan Sukurov; Certification and Guidance Unit Official Sharafat Ismayilova; Specialist of the Department of Medical Standards and Clinical Protocols Gunel Pashayeva; and Head of the Protocol Division of the Accreditation Department of the Azerbaijan Ministry of Health, Dr. Nazhanım Gasımova, TÜSKA academics and officials, as well as observers from the Ministry of Health Directorate General for Foreign Relations and European Union Affairs and the TÜSEB Department of Foreign Relations.
During the meeting, the preparatory process for Azerbaijan’s national accreditation system, planned to be launched as of 2027, was discussed. The Azerbaijani side shared information on the development of accreditation standards, the establishment of surveyor capacity, the implementation of pilot applications, and international recognition processes, and expressed their interest in benefiting from Türkiye’s institutional experience in these areas.
TÜSKA President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bayram Demir, in his remarks during the meeting, emphasized that in order to establish accreditation systems in a sound and sustainable manner, it is critically important to first develop a comprehensive and implementable set of accreditation standards. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Demir also stated that TÜSKA is ready to share its knowledge and experience at every stage of this process, including standards development, surveyor training, pilot implementations, and technical guidance.
The meeting also addressed the need for accreditation processes to be implemented in a gradual and well-planned manner, for practices to be tested through pilot hospitals, and for a structure aligned with international accreditation organizations to be established. The parties highlighted the importance of conducting the process within the framework of a formal cooperation protocol.
